so what’s new for sale at DriverJohn then?

Despite the problems with Gloucester Antiques Centre we are still very much in business. Amongst what we have for sale at the moment there are a number of aviation related collectibles from BOAC, Pan Am, American Airlines and others, mostly from the 1960s and 1970s, but some 1950s and some contemporary. Many of these have been listed on our eBay store and there are some more to come, so do click the link on our eBay site to subscribe for updates. Continue reading

indycar to go global in 2015?

News that IndyCar plans to widen its scope to other parts of the world is welcome. Given our comments earlier about the state of F1 the opportunity to have another single seater series on a global platform might focus F1 a little and get them to sharpen things up. Continue reading

IndyCar at it again? Firing Randy Bernard won’t help restore #Indycar

We wrote recently about IndyCar seeming to be hell-bent on self-destruction again (read that post here) and the rumour mill started up again as we ran into the weekend but, after various denials and a lack of comment, the Indianapolis Star ran this article yesterday. Continue reading

what is it about that DeltaWing thing? #IndyCar

When I first read about the DeltaWing it was in a magazine article and the proposition was that it could be the new IndyCar. One of my heroes was Dan Gurney and through following his exploits I started to get a bit more into USAC racing generally over the next year or so and Graham Hill, another hero, winning in ’66 brought more interest. Weekend round up – 27th May 2012 #F1 #Indycar #NASCAR

We had three great races, races really deserving of the term “Classics”, this weekend with the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indy 500 and the 600 at Charlotte, all of which have been on the racing calendar for some years. Continue reading

Weekend round up – 21st May 2012 #DTM #IndyCar#F1 #NASCAR

#F1 Interesting that Red Bull’s owner thinks that the start to the 2012 season with 5 different winners in as many races might put people off; the opposite was reckoned to be the case when Schumi was winning everything in sight and being accused of making the show boring. We’re very happy here that the results have been so varied and that we have such a competitive series (we’d be happier still if JB was waltzing off into the distance with 5 wins out of 5, but that’s just us).
