Weekend round up – 1st July 2012 #DTM #NASCAR

Hopefully we might have got the duff weather out of the way here in the UK ready for the Grand Prix next weekend, but we don’t hold out too much hope. Hopefully the folks who went to the Festival of Speed at Goodwood didn’t get too wet. This weekend on a global stage the prime action was the #DTM from the Norisring and #NASCAR from Kentucky.

#DTM around the old stadium is always action packed and this weekend we saw Jamie Green pinch the win at the final corner of the race going from third to first in the final laps and spoiling BMW’s day. Problems with the track breaking up earlier in the weekend were overcome in time for the race.

Gary Paffett came in fourth and retains the points lead from fellow HWA Mercedes driver Green.

In Kentucky the #NASCAR teams put on one of their evening shows with Bad Brad taking the win for Penske Dodge in the Blue Deuce. The #48 team had ended their long pole drought and brought home a solid top ten in the race. Matt Kenseth still leads the points despite breaking news that he will be leaving the team at the end of the season (although no news yet as to who he will race for next year).

Reading some of the post-race comments on Twitter it seems that traffic problems post race meant a lot of people were very late home yet again.
